2018 Flood Recovery Information
In early September widespread flooding affected the southern and eastern counties of the synod. Please continue to pray for all the affected communities. Here are some resources for prayers and worship:

For Flood Survivors
Residents and business owners who sustained losses in the designated counties (Crawford, Dane, Juneau, La Crosse, Monroe, Sauk, and Vernon) can begin applying for FEMA assistance by registering online at http://www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7:00am to 9:00pm (local time) seven days a week until further notice.
FEMA Disaster Recovery Center is open in Westby
104 West State Street (This is the space that Ole and Lena’s Cafe used a few years ago and old bank, owned by Organic Valley now.)
Open 10AM to 6PM
Please use the “back” entrance, where parking is available.
There are some very caring people ready to assist and offer guidance.
Ways to Help
Donate money. FEMA will do a lot, but it won't be enough. Thank you for your generosity! Make checks out to LTRG Region 1 and mail them to:
Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church
500 S. Main St., Westby, WI 54667
Attn: Michele Engh
**Donated money will be given to survivors based on need after other options (insurance, community grants, local and government assistance) have been secured. Lutheran Disaster Response will guide our efforts to determine the most efficient and equitable way to distribute funds. Locally, our Long Term Recovery Group will oversee the process over the next year.**
Donate Good-as-new Stuff at Vernon County Fairgrounds - Staffed every Saturday from 10am to 5pm; accepting appliances, furniture, etc. (NO clothing.) Survivors pick out needed items, and there is room to store until homes are repaired. There is now a phone number that people can call to make donations or for survivors to call and request items they may need. The number is 608-632-4770.
Crisis Counselors - A team of local crisis counselors has been trained and are able to meet with survivors needing emotional support. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 608-788-5000 to request a counselor. Counselors will sometimes be available at FEMA Long Term Recovery Centers and community events.
